Looking back at our employee learning journey throughout 2011 I am absolutely blown away by how many of our colleagues have achieved qualifications over a 12 period. Over 110 of our colleagues (12%) undertook and completed formal study, with many more still studying. Wow!
Overall, 28 different disciplines have been covered with more than 80 Bolton at Home employees earning certificates in courses including an in-house ILM Leadership and Management Certificates at Levels 3 & 5, the CIH Certificate in Housing Level 3 with Blackburn College, the Level 4 Introduction to Regeneration at Bolton University, and the NVQ Levels 2 & 3 in Customer Service with Runshaw.
In addition to this, 23 of our colleagues took advantage of our sponsored study programme which financially supports them to achieve professional qualifications. These ranged from a Level 4 certificate in Managing Diversity & Equality to a HNC in Building Studies.
For some this was an ongoing lifelong learning journey, as they had already caught the study bug completing previous qualifications. For others, it was their first formal study since the heady days of school and feedback we received was that the return to learning was daunting initially but a very liberating experience when they received their certificates.
At the end of last year, we held a ‘Service Star Awards’ event to recognise and honour each of our employees that had completing further training and qualifications.
At the event, our chief executive Jon Lord said that ‘the strength of Bolton at Home is in its staff’ and I’m proud to say that through the commitment of these colleagues as a business we are now in a stronger and healthier position than ever which will help us achieve our goals during 2012.
